The Fountain Valley Police Department employs a full time Forensic & Identification Technician who responds to and processes crime scenes. This position requires expertise in evidence identification, documentation, collections, and preservation. The Forensic Tech is trained in latent print collection and examination, DNA & Trace Evidence detection and collection, photography, and more. Additionally, the Forensic Tech has the responsibility of processing and examining digital forensic evidence and doing further in-house technical anlysis.
Evidence collected is examined in FVPD's crime lab with other specific evidence being forensically examined through the Orange County Crime Lab.
The Forensic Technician works closely with the Detective Bureau and Property Clerk and assists in search warrant services and other aspects of criminal investigations.
