The Fountain Valley Police Department Detective Bureau is led by the Detective Bureau Lieutenant and supervised by the Detective Bureau Sergeant. The mission of the Detective Bureau is to provide prompt, professional, and effective investigative services to solve crimes and reduce the risk of future crimes. Our mission is accomplished through determination while utilizing a comprehensive problem solving strategy by employing a variety of apprehension, suppression, and prevention techniques.
The General Investigations Bureau is a centralized team of detectives divided into four teams:
Crimes Against Persons
The Crimes Against Persons Detective (CAP) is responsible for investigating homicides, suspicious deaths, elder abuse, assaults, criminal threats, domestic violence, stalking, and other serious crimes occurring in the City of Fountain Valley.
The Property Crimes Detectives investigate crimes that result in the theft or destruction of property, commercial and residential burglaries, and other related thefts occurring in the City of Fountain Valley.
The Fraud Crimes Detective is responsible for investigating all financial crimes. Areas investigated include fraudulent checks, embezzlement, identity theft, and internet fraud occurring in the City of Fountain Valley.
The Sex Crime Detective is responsible for investigating all sex crimes, child neglect, sexual assaults, registration of sex offenders, missing persons, and human trafficking. The Sex Crime Detective works closely with the County of Orange Social Services Agency in the investigation of child abuse.
