As the days get cooler and rain returns, it’s the perfect time to make a few easy adjustments to help save water this winter.
Here are a few simple steps to take:
- Check your sprinkler system for leaks, overspray, and broken sprinkler heads
- Reset your sprinkler timer to water only once or twice a week
- Don’t water during or within 48 hours after rainfall
The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) is also offering rebates for Fountain Valley residents who make water-smart upgrades, including:
- Installing smart irrigation timers
- Replacing grass (turf) with drought-tolerant landscaping. (IMPORTANT NOTE: Applicants must NOT remove their existing turf until they have had a pre-inspection and received a "Letter to Proceed" from MWDOC. Visit HERE for what you need to know before you remove your turf.)
- Switching from spray to drip irrigation systems
