Representative Tran Advances $11 Million to Improve Infrastructure, Public Safety Across Orange and
Big news for Fountain Valley!
U.S. Representative Derek Tran has advanced nearly $11 million in federal funding for infrastructure and public safety improvements across the region — including $2 million dedicated to the City of Fountain Valley, which is the second highest amount of all the projects that were submitted!
This investment will help construct a new fire station that can provide safer, faster response times to more Fountain Valley residents experiencing emergencies.
We appreciate the continued partnership in bringing critical resources home to benefit Fountain Valley residents.

City of Fountain Valley Appoints Craig Heredia as Police Chief
The City of Fountain Valley has appointed Craig Heredia as its new police chief, bringing 30 years of law enforcement experience, executive leadership and a strong commitment to community-focused policing to the Fountain Valley Police Department. He will begin his role on February 17, 2026, and proudly lead a department with a strong reputation for public safety, community engagement and accountability.
Heredia joins Fountain Valley after a distinguished career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), where he served in a wide range of assignments across multiple divisions and commands. His experience includes patrol operations, gang enforcement, major offenders, homicide support and federal task force operations with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Heredia looks forward to working with City leadership, department personnel and the Fountain Valley community to further strengthen public safety and trust.

Timeless Melodies is a video-based music history program exploring classic 20th-century songs that shaped American culture. Join historian Larry Maurer for a nostalgic journey through iconic eras with vintage visuals, music, and stories. The first workshop will take place on February 24, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at The Center at Founders Village Senior & Community Center (17967 Bushard St.).
