114 short-term rental homes have ceased operating in the City of Fountain Valley. Since initiating its aggressive enforcement of the City’s ban on short-term rentals hosted on websites, such Airbnb and VRBO, the City has issued notices and in some instances citations carrying a fine of $1,500, to repeat offenders of the City’s Municipal Code. There are now less than 90 short-term rental homes identified as operating in the City and our Code Enforcement Division continues to monitor compliance daily. Short-term rental owners who continue to operate illegally will next face fines of $3,000 and $5,000.
