Annual Fire Station Open House: Fire Prevention Week

Part of the Fire Prevention, P.R.E.P. Program, which stands for (Preventing, Responding, Educating, and Preparing) is our Annual Fire Prevention Week, Fire Station #1 OPEN HOUSE:

Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the second week of October, in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871 and caused devastating damage. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in 1922 began this education week. It is dedicated to raising awareness about fire safety and prevention. It is a fantastic opportunity for the department to teach, all ages, to learn how to stay safe from fire and to remind themselves of ways to prevent fires and what to do if there is one.
