Water Pollution
Preventing pollution from harming beaches, harbors, and oceans protects these valuable resources for all of us and future generations. In Orange County, it is prohibited by Federal, State, and local laws to discharge anything other than clean stormwater runoff to the storm drain system. To report water pollution, promptly contact the City’s water pollution hotline at
(714) 593-4441 or the City’s Public Works Field Services Division at (714) 593-4600 during normal business hours. During non-business hours, you can call the Police Department at (714) 593-4485. Additional information on preventing pollution can be found at ocwatersheds.com. In the case of a chemical spill emergency, call 911 immediately.
To help maintain the biological integrity of Orange County's aquatic resources and protect public health, the County of Orange has a team of specially trained personnel who respond to water pollution incidents on a 24-hour basis, 365 days a year. The OC Public Works Water Pollution Response Unit has a primary goal of protecting public health and the environment. Investigations may in some instances lead to civil or criminal prosecution. The Unit works closely with the Orange County District Attorney's Office Environmental Protection Unit, as well as other local, State and Federal agencies, in responding to and investigating water pollution incidents.

To report a spill to the OC Public Works Water Pollution Response Unit, call 1-877-89-SPILL.
