The Fountain Valley Fire Department, as one of 8 Orange County fire agencies that comprise the Metro Cities Fire Authority, is participating in the trial launch of PulsePoint, a mobile application intended to save victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Metro Cities Fire Authority, in cooperation with the Metro Cities dispatch center, is the first in Orange County to pilot this application.

PulsePoint alerts nearby citizens when critical lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation is needed, and the location of nearby public access automated external defibrillator (AED). An AED is a portable electronic device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, delivers an electric shock, known as defibrillation, which helps the heart establish an effective rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest.

Hands-Only™ CPR Can Save Lives
Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don't be afraid.
